Belfast Livin'

Belfast Adventures

Day 1: We arrived in the early afternoon as Farset International. Sorely jet-lagged, the group headed out on a bus tour around Belfast. In the capable hands of Professor Gordon Gillespie of the University of Ulster and Queens University, we set out throughout the seemingly complex streets of the city. Stopping sporadically along the way, Gordon discussed the history and importance of specific murals, neighborhoods, and cultural icons, such as the shipyard, which, home to two famous cranes Goliath and Samson, birthed the legendary Titanic. After the tour, the group, along with AMA, Robin, and MK, headed to dinner at Fairte where we met a friendly group of Belfast youth. We soon learned that the Irish are outgoing and hospitable. Feeling the time difference and sleep deprivation, we went back and crashed.

Lessons Learned: Belfast is cold and WINDY. People are friendly.
